Best Restaurants Open for Christmas Dinner this year in Wilkes-Barre – 2024

So we accidentally get to this town which with all do respect did not seem to be the best quality place on this planet. We asked for good place to eat and were recommended to here. Food is very good if not better. The fish we had, were both excellent, nothing to complained as it was very well cooked seasoned and freshly served. Starters were also excellent. We both had shrimp, but different styles. Sauces were delicious. Service is ok, but upscale place like, therefore don’t count on too much friendly easy going chats. Everything was correct and polite. I guess they want it this way, which is good. The place is not cheap, but thought the quality we got, deserved the money.

This could have been excellent. My dish was special and delicious. Unfortunately, my husbands dish was a disappointment as the garlic was burned, ruining any of the flavors that could have been. The dessert was a real treat, and I would go back and give them another try.

Very nice place. High quality food and service. Very clean place. Raviolis were really good. Freshly made pasta in house. Sauces were good. The chocolate lava cake was perfect ending. Ate alot be ause i wanted to try everything. Will def go back.

I had an incredible experience with Rhianna at Smokey Bones! She’s hands-down one of the best bartenders I’ve ever encountered. Not only was she attentive and fast with our drinks, but she also made us feel right at home with her friendly personality and genuine enthusiasm. Her recommendations were spot on, and she crafted each cocktail with such skill and care. Rhianna truly elevated our visit, and we’ll definitely be back because of her! If you’re looking for a fantastic bartender and a great night out, make sure to ask for Rhianna at Smokey Bones.

The service was great and the place was clean. We were seated quickly and had our order very fast. The food was ok but it wasn't something that made me want to come back. It reminded me of something I could have gotten from the grocery store and put in the microwave. We had brisket, chicken, baked beans, fried pickles, and some other sides. It's worth trying for yourself.

The food was very good. Everything came hot and just as it was described on the menu. I do want to give a shout out to the wait staff. Our server was amazing. He made us feel right at home. I'm in the business my entire life and I just want to give credit to servers who go out of their way to make your experience enjoyable. He made myself, my mom, and grandson all feel at home. The name on my receipt was Rahaaan. He did a great job!

We really liked coming for breakfast here. The waitresses are really nice. The food is usually very hot and fresh. We really like the homemade breakfast casserole. They have a lot of unique menu items. My biggest dislike the is weird other ballroom dinning area. The subway paintings and falling ceiling tiles definitely don’t help. Some renovations to that area and the bathrooms would really help this place.

I went to scratch kitchen for the first time the other day and I will defiantly be back! The staff were all smiling and very friendly. The atmosphere and energy in there was so happy and relaxing . I was surprised because it was so busy but despite all that the staff still kept smiling. Also loved my food. Thanks again for being awesome and making your customers feel welcome!

Tasty food with superb service. We started out with the French Onion soup and that was hot enough to burn my tongue. I had the Boardwalk Beef (prime rib sandwich with au jus) and fries. My daughter had the Mascarpone Cheese and Strawberry stuffed French Toast. Son and wife shared sides of corned beef hash, potatoes, and sausage. A great deal of food for the price. You won’t be disappointed.

First time to the River Grill Restaurant and have to say it was awesome! From the customer service to the wait staff (Corrine) and the FOOD! And the outside winter wonderland BAR amazing! A def must see

Seated outside and enjoyed our lunch overlooking the dirty Susquehanna River. The food was good, along with the service. Menu was limited but had a good variety to choose from.

Nice location right off the highway. It was early evening.We were sat right away. The restaurant has ample seating along with a large bar for additional seating . Staff was pleasant and attentive.Reccommended the smash burger which was a hit. We had the fried calamari and jalapenos that came with a hot chili aioli. So good! I had the wedge salad with Steak. Food came out promptly. The restaurant faces the river and they have outdoor seating for warmer weather. If we were locals we would make this a regular spot!

In town for business and came across this place. Ordered the lamb, great presentation, but not alot of flavor. The server, host and manager were very attentive and the atmosphere was okay(too cold). I’d give them another try, just not the lamb dish. Dessert, tiramisu was just okay. Was expecting more flavor… I finished it, but wasn’t really impressed with this selection.

I've been there twice since they've changed names, the most recent was last night. Each time everything was wonderful. The atmosphere is really nice with tables spaced as not to give a cafeteria feel as other fine dining restaurants do. Then the service was nothing short of perfect. The timing, from drinks to dessert, was impeccable! No feeling of being rushed and no feeling about being forgotten. Everything from the drinks to dessert was very tasty. I definitely will return.

My friends and I went to their Bridgerton brunch. It was really cute but misleading. We thought the mimosas and flowers were included with the 50$ ticket, we were charged and additional $30 for the drinks and $20 for the bouquet… The service and atmosphere was great! We enjoyed ourselves and mingled. All of the appetizers were delicious but the main course was under whelming. The eggs Benedict was undercooked, the crab came straight from a container, it wasn’t cooked prepared and differently. The French toast was literally 1 piece ( these were 2 different Main courses, you choose one or the other and the crab was a 9$ upgrade) …. I had to send it back twice and on the third time that bright me someone else’s food. At that point. I didn’t want anything.. lol.. over all it was fun they just need to work out there menu for their themes.

Been meaning to try this place for a minute. Did not disappoint what so ever! Got the pizza with spinach and tomato, holy crap! Incredible! I think they put a pesto type oil on the pizza and it took it the next level! Scallops and risotto perfect! The scallops where melt in your mouth, beautiful flavor. The risotto was buttery and absolutely delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare all the way through, came with a shallot sauce? Nice compliment to go with the steak and risotto. If your your by the square you absolutely 100% gotta check this place out. Also it's beautiful in there! Staff was very nice and friendly also.

We stopped in before a show at the Kirby Center. Very friendly and relaxed (not stuffy) atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and extremely professional, making you feel welcome. The food is reasonably priced and oh...delicious! Everything from a pizza to a very nice steak is available. We will be back. Thanks for a great start to the evening!

Its rare that i order seafood bc its usually all fishy and not fresh but decided to give it a try bc i have been craving good fish since I last visited mexico. So I ordered the Parmigian encrusted cod with vegetables. It was very good, very fresh and perfectly flavored. Nothing needed salt or anything bc the herbs did all the work. People at another table ordered wings and they said amongst themselves that they were really good. Then 2 men walked in and went straight to the bar and exclaimed that they love the drinks there. I'll definitely be back to try some other entrees they have.

Dani was a phenomenal server who had patience answering questions and was knowledgeable of the menu. We appreciate her taking care of our family in celebrating our birthday mom. Mom had a great experience, and we will definitely come back again.

Favorite place for a seafood boil out of every place I’ve been in this country. Had an AMAZING server, Jada, I think she’s the nicest server I’ve had. Food came out in 5 minutes too. 10/10 great experience.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The star of the show was definitely the snow crab legs—cooked to perfection, spicy, juicy, and seasoned just right. They were some of the best I’ve ever had! But what truly elevated my dining experience was the outstanding service. The bartender drafted fantastic Blue Moon beer from the tab that paired perfectly with my meal. And my waitress, Jada, was simply amazing! Attentive, personable, and genuinely kind, Jada made sure everything was just right and added a personal touch that made the night feel special. Flaming Crabs isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. If you’re in the area and have a love for seafood, you won’t want to miss it. Can’t wait to return!

Every time we find ourselves at Mohegan Sun, we make it a point to stop by this incredible restaurant. My husband is absolutely enamored with the food, and I can’t blame him! The decor is breathtaking, but it’s really the food that keeps us coming back for more. While the prices might be on the higher side, the generous portion sizes and exceptional quality make it truly worth every penny. Now, let’s rave about the drinks! The bartender deserves a round of applause—and a raise—because each drink is perfectly crafted and utterly delightful. I couldn’t resist the pineapple spicy margarita; it was so good that I ended up ordering three, and I have zero regrets! My husband opted for the filet mignon, which was cooked to absolute perfection, while I indulged in the pork chop, and let me tell you, it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. This place is a must-visit, and we can’t wait to return!

Visited this location for the first time and loved everything about it! I had the pork chop, which was cooked to perfection and my date lad the crab cakes and neither one left any crumbs. Had the chocolate cake for dessert, and lavender lemon drop both were very good. Whenever we are back in the area, this restaurant will be one of our stops!

Hands down the best and most popular resturant in NEPA. This place is always jammed packed, even on holidays. Wait staff, and management really take care of their customers. I reccomend the ceaser salad and hanger steak. The creme brulee is the best and highly sought after. You are never dissapointed here- even the kitchen staff will come out and check on you. A+++

I recently moved to NEPA and have struggled to find places with food I like. I was pretty impressed with Breaker Brewing! I got seared tuna tacos and they were stuffed with fish and toppings and were delicious! Beers were really tasty as well. Huge fan of the 10oz pour so I can try a couple and not feel overly full. We were seated outside (as there was no tables left inside) and there was a seperate party in their other building so service was a little slow and getting our check was slightly awkward but staff was very friendly and helpful! I will definitely be back to try more food and beer here!

We love that there’s a little brewery and restaurant in Georgetown. I also love that they change their menu often and offer seasonal viddles. We really wanted to have some sandwiches so we tried the Cuban and the Rueben. I really liked my Cuban sandwich and thought it was well done. The Rueben’s meat was a little tough and could have used more sauce. I would definitely come back and try some other options.

Great place in an old church in the Georgetown section of Wilkes Barre. Craft beer menu is great and the food menu is solid. Our meals were delicious as was the beer. Great outdoor seating area as well that allows dogs.

I go here fairly often, usually for takeout, but today had an opportunity to eat in. Fantastic shrimp ramen (with a much needed side of spicy chili oil), delicious 6-7" long shrimp tempura that was wonderfully hot, not overcooked and the breading was clean tasting. We also got the seafood Pancake which was also delicious, flavorful and packed a good amount of seafood for a Pancake. As of current this place took a top spot for us to get food from. The staff and management staff are all very nice, attentive and quick moving. We can only hope this place continues to be one of the best in the area.

Wow! The food amazing. The service amazing. The atmosphere amazing. I never had Ramen before and wasn’t sure how to order. Tracy went above and beyond explaining everything to us and helped us order with confidence. HIGHLY recommend trying this place out!

Breena was an amazing hostess. She did a great job explaining the menu and was super friendly and attentive. The food was so good. Delicious ramen, spicy crab sushi taco, and the bubble tea was amazing. Take your time. Dive in and enjoy. The combo is a great deal.
