Best Restaurants Open for Christmas Dinner this year in Waimea – 2024

This was the best food truck experience! I ordered the chicken bacon Swiss (hot sandwich), it was soooo tasty! Husband ordered the Horner burger, and he loved it. Both came with fries. We walked up, ordered, and she said she’d bring it to us when it was ready. With 10 minutes we had our food, and would definitely return if we are in the area again.

## 5 Stars - Mama Bear's Kitchen: A Must-Try Kauai Gem! Mama Bear's Kitchen is a food truck serving up some of the best eats I had on Kauai! The smash burger was absolutely fantastic - juicy, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. But the real star of the show for me was the Asian pork belly sliders special. The combination of savory pork belly, tangy sauce, and fluffy buns was incredible. The only downside was the limited seating. There's just one picnic table, and while it wasn't a dealbreaker, having a few more chairs or a small patio area would be ideal. It's important to note that Mama Bear's Kitchen doesn't advertise having a lot of seating, so it's definitely more of a grab-and-go situation. Despite the lack of seating, the incredible food and friendly service make Mama Bear's Kitchen a 5-star experience. This is a must-try for anyone visiting Kauai!

The fries were great. The Mahi grilled sandwich was disappointing. I was expecting a grilled sandwich not a tuna fish sandwich. Also, the menu said deep-fried pickle that I could not find. The other item we had was a grilled chicken Swiss. It was very good, very cheesy. The parking lot had room for 5-6 cars and the road had extra room for maybe 4 more. The staff was friendly and the prices were fair.

Merriman’s was such a wonderful experience! We made last minute reservations the night before our wedding to celebrate afterwards, and they happily accommodated us. The manager, Eric, was very warm and friendly when we arrived, and he and the rest of the staff made us feel so celebrated and as if they were sharing in our excitement. The food was phenomenal, each dish we had to pause after the first bite and marvel at the flavors. We loved everything, but particularly enjoyed the lobster ravioli, the tomato bisque (which I believe was one of their specials), the cucumber salad, and the chocolate purse (wish I could’ve had 4 more!) Our server Bianca was one of the best servers we have had anywhere. So personable, and clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about her work and the restaurant. Thank you for helping us have the perfect end to our special day! We look forward to one day returning.

One of the best meals we had on the island! The outside decor might not catch your attention, but the food definitely will. Only about a 30-minute drive from the resort areas with easy parking in front of the restaurant. The New York steak was very flavorful and tender. We requested to leave off the schewan peppercorns and herb butter because we didn't want to ruin a great steak. The scallops and shrimp were done perfectly. The desert and coffee selection was very good.

This is a very high end restaurant that lives up to its reputation! The scallops and shrimp were delicious! The ambiance was great with fresh herbs growing outside the windows. Our service from Howard could not have been better! Highly recommended!

We chose the Kalua Pork breakfast and Corned Beef breakfast. The kalua pork was perfect!! Price was very good for breakfast also, under 10.

They serve breakfast as well as the everyday faire of food. I had the French toast for my early breakfast one day and the chili spaghetti on a separate night visit. The Chili needs a little more flavor because it is fairly bland with no heat at all. Just some salt would help.

I was expecting a restaurant with proper plates, got styrofoam boxes instead. Voting within our party of three: one dish was tasteless at best, another person literally ran to the bathroom to throw up, and the 3rd person was moderately unimpressed. Atmosphere? None, a drive through McDonald's has a more upscale vibe to it. Oh, and what's Hawaiian about this place? Exactly, absolutely nothing.
